Everything you need to know about how HumanRail pricing works.
What counts as a task?
Any human judgment call routed through our API counts as one task. A task is a single unit of work -- for example, reviewing a refund request, diagnosing an incident alert, classifying a support ticket, or verifying a document. Each task has defined input context, expected output schema, and a verified result. Multi-step workflows that require multiple human decisions count as separate tasks.
How does billing work?
Pre-fund your account balance, and task costs are deducted as tasks complete. You are only charged when a task reaches the "verified" state -- meaning it has passed our verification pipeline. If a task fails verification, you are not charged. Your balance never goes negative; if it runs low, tasks queue until you top up. Enterprise customers can arrange net-30 invoicing.
What's the verification guarantee?
Every task is verified before you are charged. Our six-stage verification pipeline includes schema validation, deterministic rule checks, anomaly detection, gold task evaluation (Growth and Enterprise), redundancy consensus, and QA spot checks. If the result does not meet quality standards, the task is re-routed to another worker at no additional cost to you.
Can I try it free?
Yes. Your first 100 tasks are completely free, no credit card required. Sign up, grab your API key, and start routing tasks immediately. The free tier has the same verification quality and worker pool as the Starter plan -- we want you to evaluate the real product, not a limited demo.
How are workers paid?
Workers are paid instantly via Lightning Network or next-day via bank transfer (through our Strike integration). All balances are tracked in satoshis internally with USD conversion at payout time. Lightning payouts settle in seconds -- no 30-day net terms. This instant payout model attracts and retains higher-quality workers, which directly improves the results you receive.
What happens if I exceed my rate limit?
API requests that exceed your plan's rate limit receive a 429 (Too Many Requests) response with a Retry-After header. Our SDKs handle this automatically with exponential backoff. If you consistently need higher limits, upgrading your plan takes effect immediately. Enterprise customers get custom rate limits tailored to their workload patterns.
Can I switch plans at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade between Starter and Growth at any time. Plan changes take effect immediately. When upgrading, the lower per-task rate applies to all new tasks right away. When downgrading, you retain access to Growth features until your current billing cycle ends. For Enterprise, contact your CSM to adjust your agreement.
